How it works, and who it is for

If what you want from an instrument is the number — a barometer your flight app can trust — and you are happy for the sound to come out of your phone, this is the minimal version of that. Nothing to read, nothing to listen to, no charging habit to keep: one coin cell carries a season of flying, and there is nothing else inside to wear out. It is the longest-lived device in the line precisely because it does the least.

It is a sensor and nothing more. Press the button and it starts advertising over Bluetooth LE; your flight app connects without pairing and subscribes to pressure — read forty times a second, sent out ten. Everything after that is the app's job: the vario tone, the averaging, the altitude, the tracklog, the maps. The split is deliberate. Your phone already has the screen, the speaker and the battery to drive them; what it does not have is a barometer that reacts the moment the air does.

The button covers the two things a device like this actually needs. One press wakes it and makes it advertise quickly, so on launch the phone finds it in a second instead of hunting. A double press sends it into deep sleep for storage: over the winter it draws nothing, the battery stays inside, and one press in spring brings it back.

Devices are built in batches

If your order lands on a unit that is already built, flashed and tested, it goes out within 1–3 business days.

If the batch is gone, yours is in the next one

Boards come from the factory, enclosures are printed and assembled here in Slovenia. Three to four weeks from payment — usually three.

You will know which one you are

I email you within a day of your order with the real date, and you can cancel for a full refund at any point before your device ships. No reason needed.

Payment is taken once, at checkout — there is no second charge later. This is a small workshop, not a warehouse: I would rather name a longer date and beat it than promise 1–3 days and go quiet.

FAQ

Does it beep?
No. It has no buzzer and no LED at all — it is a sensor, not a vario. The sound comes from your flight app, which already knows how to make it and lets you shape it. If you want an instrument that beeps on its own with the phone in your pocket, that is the mini BT or the SunVario.
My phone already has a barometer. Why this?
Phones do have one, but it sits sealed in the case, is sampled slowly and gets smoothed by the operating system before your app ever sees it — which is why a phone vario feels like it is describing the thermal you were in a second ago. This one is a flight-grade sensor read 40 times a second and streamed at 10 Hz, and the difference is immediately audible.
What does the button do?
Two things. One press wakes the device and makes it advertise quickly, so your phone finds it in a second instead of waiting for the next beacon — that is the difference between connecting on launch and swearing at it. A double press puts it into deep sleep for storage: the battery stays in, nothing drains, and one press brings it back.
How long does the battery last?
About 400 hours of flying on one CR2032, and roughly two years asleep. It is a one-euro coin cell from any supermarket, and the lid comes off with a fingernail — no tools, no glue, no service.
Wasn't this discontinued?
The FBPS1 was, in 2025 — and people kept asking for it. The Baro is its successor: the same proven electronics with a new printed case, a button it never had before, and new firmware. In the Bluetooth list it shows up as FBPS.
How is it different from the mini BT?
The mini BT is the same class of sensor plus a piezo and four buttons that act as a wireless keyboard for your flight app — it beeps without your phone and lets you drive the app without taking your hands off the brakes. The Baro is only the sensor: smaller, quieter and €30 less.
Will it work with my app?
It publishes pressure as a standard BLE characteristic, so anything that reads an external barometer picks it up: xcTrack, SeeYou Navigator, LK8000, FlySkyHy, FlyMe, TheFlightVario and maps.flybeeper.com. No pairing code, no account, no app of ours required.
How much is shipping and how long does it take?
Shipping is free — it is already included in the price. Devices are built in batches: if your order lands on a unit that is already built, flashed and tested, it goes out in 1–3 business days; if the batch is gone, yours is built in the next one — three to four weeks from payment, usually three. Transit in the EU is typically 3–10 days; UK / CH / NO is 5–14 days.
What's the return policy?
EU consumer law: 14 days to return for any reason, refund within 14 days of receiving the device back. If you simply changed your mind, the return postage is yours; if the device is faulty, it is mine.
How long is the warranty?
2 years under Slovenian and EU law (ZVPot-1, Directive (EU) 2019/771). A faulty device is repaired or replaced free of charge, and “free” includes the postage both ways — that is the law, not goodwill. What it does not cover is damage you caused: a crushed case, water, a lost device. I will still repair those, but the parts and the postage are yours, and I name the price before I start.
Will I get an invoice? What about VAT?
Yes — a PDF invoice is generated automatically and emailed to you. We're a small Slovenian business not registered for VAT (Article 94(1) ZDDV-1), so no VAT is charged.
