About FlyBeeper
FlyBeeper is a one-person operation. I'm a paraglider pilot and software engineer, and I make the FlyBeeper mini BT here in Slovenia.
Why this exists
Every BLE vario I tried before building the mini BT had at least one fatal flaw: too heavy, too closed (no firmware updates without a cable), or too tied to a proprietary app. As a hike-and-fly pilot, weight matters. As an engineer, the closed firmware felt like a missed opportunity.
So I built the lightest BLE vario I could — 9 grams with battery, industrial-nylon casing for shock resistance, sensitivity tunable to ±2 cm. The configurator runs in your browser. Firmware updates over the air. The device speaks plain BLE telemetry that any flight app can consume — xcTrack, SeeYou Navigator, FlySkyHy, xcSoar.
What I ship
When you order, I assemble, test, and pack the device myself. Most orders leave Slovenia within 1–3 business days. Every device gets a 2-year warranty under Slovenian and EU consumer law. If you don't like it within 14 days, return it for a full refund — also EU law.
VAT and the small-business notice
The legal entity is Alpisto d.o.o., a small Slovenian business that is exempt from VAT under Article 94(1) of ZDDV-1. This keeps prices noticeably lower than they would otherwise be — that's the only reason you'll see "VAT not charged" on your invoice.
What's next
A FANET-capable vario, a true airspeed sensor, and a solar-charged ultralight are in development. No release dates — they ship when they're ready.
